Pabau's own help articles describe two different places to create an API key, so we confirm the current steps with you on a short call before you create one.

How Pabau limits access
Pabau warns that its API key gives access to your Pabau account, and the articles we checked don't describe a way to limit a key to chosen actions. So for Pabau the action limits come from our code's fixed list of allowed actions (see What we keep), and we keep the key off every system except the booking service.
Steps
-
Book a short call with your project lead
We go through the steps with you on screen, so the key is created once, in the right place, and handed over the same day.
-
Find the API key page
Newer Pabau accounts: Setup > Integrations > Private Apps opens the Developer Hub. Under Your Apps, use Edit to view the key and copy it.
Older Pabau accounts: Setup > Settings > API Keys, then New API Key.
-
Send us the key
Send the key to us through the one-time link your project lead gives you. Please don't send keys by email or chat message: the one-time link can be opened once and then stops working.
-
Keep the off switch in mind
To stop our access, delete the key on the same page.
Leave these off
| Access | Why we don't need it |
|---|---|
| Sharing the key with anyone else | The key reaches your whole Pabau account. Keep it to the one-time link. |
| Medical records, invoices and payments | Our code never requests them. |
What we keep
Every patient record is cut down to name, phone and status the moment it reaches our system. Everything else, including date of birth, address, email, notes and medical alerts, is discarded before any other part of the system sees it.
On top of the limits you set here, our code carries its own fixed list of allowed actions, so a request for anything else is refused before it leaves our system. Read the full clinic security standard.
